Can you help us design a plan?
Sherlock offers in-house drafting and design services at no additional cost to our customers. We can design your home from scratch or modify a plan you bring us.
What is the cost for drawing plans and generating a quote?
Sherlock does not charge for site evaluations or quotes… both are offered at no charge because we are confident you will like what you find in the detail of our quotes and the experience we bring to the table. Drafting services are also free of charge to our homeowners.
What kinds of things are included in your "price per square foot" estimates?
Sherlock includes the finishes you would expect in a custom home... hardwood and ceramic floors, granite kitchen tops, under-mount sinks, soft close and dovetailed cabinetry, brick and Hardie exteriors, dimensional shingles, fireplaces and more. Will you build outside the area shown on your "building area map"?
The area shown in our “Where We Build Map” is an approximation of the area we typically serve. If your homesite is near or beyond the border shown please do not hesitate to contact us and ask if we could build on your location. An evaluation of distance and the costs associated with those distances (if any) are made on a case-by-case basis, so give us a call today!
Are there limits on what we can customize or where we have to purchase products?
Sherlock is truly a custom homebuilder, which means that we have access to almost any product you desire. Of course, there are processes or products we will not include in our contract due to our quality standards, but chances are we are a perfect fit for the home and finishes you are looking for.
What kind of warranty do you provide?
A warranty is only as good as the company that stands behind it, and that is exactly what Sherlock has done for almost half a century. Sherlock warranties the installation and workmanship of all structural materials and fixtures we supply for a period of one year after date of closing. In addition to that, many manufactured components of your home will come with extended manufacturer warranties, as well. When you build with Sherlock, you can rest assured that we will be around if you need us.
Will you handle all the permitting and lot preparations?
Sherlock is there to help you ensure your lot is ready-to-build. We will purchase your building permits and help you establish accounts with the required utilities and work with other vendors to prepare your lot for construction. On-your-lot building, and the unique requirements of such projects, is what we do every day, which is why so many choose Sherlock.
How long does it take to complete a home?
Custom homes come in all shapes, sizes, and finishes (not to mention locations) so there are many items that can affect the actual duration of your project; however, Sherlock limits the number of projects we take on each year to ensure your project is completed efficiently and with attention to detail. Most of our projects are completed between 140-150 days.
